Suitable collar/leash for young puppy (5months)

We have a 5 month old Chocolate Labradoodle named Kona with crazy amounts of energy (We exercise/explore/play for about 1.5 hours a day) that we've trained and walked on a harness up until now.She was the most active/dominate in her litter of 9 and tries to dominate familiar dogs. She is wary of but still engages with dogs she doesn't know yet. She's great with people but we've hit a bit of a snag with training around kids and window growling/barking and walks are getting harder again. She is getting quite strong and the the leash pops, taps etc are no longer really working effectively. She walks on leash really well after a few minutes to calm down and concentrate ( she does pull when her concentration goes - she is a puppy after all) and has been to her first round of puppy obedience. I have noticed that ceasar often just flips the leash around, looping it on itself and uses that as a form of "choke" collar. Then there is the illusion collar, and a multitude of options. BUT what can I SAFELY use on a puppy this age so that she can learn positively and i can let go of being overly concerned?  I'd like to get her off the harness as soon as possible but do not know what is a safe alternative for a puppy.

I am sure there are many others that will chime in, but what I have used for the puppies is the Easy walker front clasping harness. It is a no pull harness, and I have very good control with my German Wirehair pups. It is available at Target, and Petsmart. I use the Ilusion collar with the adults, but also have an easy walker for those that respond better with the no pull harness.

I'll bet she is on the same energy level as a GWP puppy....we also ran with Lexi, which drained a lot of energy. She was 6 months old..

The Easy Walker no pull harness is made by the company that also makes the Gentle leader...

The gentle leader has not been as effective with the puppies, and the Easy walker harness has been very good!

For your situation I reccomend the "Gentle Leader".  This works great for distractable puppies, and with how much most learning pups pull, this will  do no damage to her neck.  You can find these at any pet store, and probably even Walmart.  Also, ask your vet what he/she reccomends for young whipper-snappers.  (I know, I'm weird, but I've always wanted to say that!)

    .25, .29.39.cent leashes

I watch Cesar and he always have these cheap leashes.  Just what store does he find them at?  I haven't seen one that cheap in 45 years if not longer.   Pat
