Yesterday I went to the Humane Society for the first time since last summer when I used to go regularly.  There were only 4 dogs there which is great.  I said hello to all the cats and then went to meet the dogs and I took a 7 year old male boxer out first.  The dog was very well behaved and I was able to handle him just fine as he knew right away that I was not going to allow him to pull me around.  When I take shelter dogs for a walk, it can be different sometimes from walking my own dog.  The difference for me is the atmosphere and being around other people and animals.  Sometimes the same old walk for me and my dog Sparky can get boring because of where I live and never meeting anyone.  Sparky stayed home when I went into town and he was very interested in all the different smells on me when I got home.  When I got home from walking two very good dogs at the Humane Society I felt better about having Sparky and was glad to walk him after I got home.  I wish that I could mix my walking route more but it is difficult because of the deep snow in the ditches where we walk in the warmer months.  We only have a limited direction to go when we leave the house.  North or South and then we need to walk a half mile south to go east or west and 1 and a half miles north to change the route.  The woods are out of the question because of the private land and the landowners need to keep people from disturbing the wild animals.  I suppose I need to bring Sparky with me more often into town and walk him there.  It is hard when I need to catch a ride and have a limited time to spend in town.  ANYBODY IN SPRINGBROOK, CRYSTAL AREA OF NORTHWEST WISCONSIN! LOL!

Anyways, when I handle dogs other than my own dog, I seemed to treat the dogs more as dogs than a friend, like I treat Sparky.  I guess I am taking Sparky for granted.  Some days the same old walk and dog are not exciting enough.  Not getting visitors makes it seem dull out here.  Maybe I'll get rheumatism or scurvy like in the old days of frontierring!  Just Kidding!  I think I need a new dog!  Maybe I should sign up for fostering.  Give me some feedback anyone!

Why don't you sign up for fostering? That would certainly add some excitement to your life!
