Hey, Laura! I'd say: go w/ your gut re: the feedig ritual. But, then, I also happen to agree with you. (EDIT: timing of posts! CASA & I crossed in the mail. I have to say, I hadn't thought of the more overall approach - I had my *focus* fingers on:-) But that looks like a really interesting (read: effective) approach! Cool.) The towel playtime

A modified bit - I'd suggest - to GP's advice. I would NOT advise giving a dog "sugar-free" anything that has a sugar replacement in it. I'm someone who uses such things - and other options - rather a lot. Because of the affect on brain chemistry, artificial sweetners should never be given to any immature mammal (puppies &

Sorting through my pictures we have: Little Sam at 11 weeks. RIP, Sam - we love you! Mlle. Chickadee at 10 wks. Just an itty-bitty little gal. A *tiny* Bouv! Big Chick. The Chickster, taking it easy. Santa's Helper: "Hey, give me turkey & I'll wear anything! I'm not proud."

Today is a Dog Park story. We all went to a park today. Actually, there's a kiddie park (with play equipment) on one side & a dog space on the other. Fenced. And - unusually - there were a lot of dogs there today. Now, Goober reminds me of a GSP my sister had. Goober is unimpressed with most every dog. He doesn't want to play with them &

It was about a year ago now that Sam trotted over the Rainbow Bridge. I say 'trotted' because I'm sure that's what he did. He never met went anywhere but with his head up and with that bouncy little Bouvier trot. Although the truth is that he died in surgery and so we never really said our goodbyes. The last thing I ever told him, in

Sometimes your dog is resting & you need her to be doing that somewhere else:-) I totally get that. Happens all the time at my house, because - no matter how bouncy & swift my Chick is *outside* she's fairly restful *inside*. And has a tendency to always be laying somewhere where I want to walk, vacuum or ... So, my recommendation...(1)

Well, here in Portland, Oregon, USA, there's a few coffee shops that are explicitly "dog friendly" (Iron Mutt comes to mind). Most of the restaurants, etc., however, allow dogs in their outdoor seating. (I'm told we're known as a dog-friendly city?) Of course, there is that little complication with the occasional bit of wet sunshine

Today's question: How many dogs does it take to lose a squirrel? We know it takes only *1* dog to *catch* a squirrel, because we've seen Chick do it - twice. But how many are required to *lose* a squirrel? The correct answer is, apparently, *3*. We all did go out to the (wet) woods early this morning. "All" of us being 3 humans &
