13-1/2 weeks, we are, into having adopted a rescue/rehab dog with issues. I have been doing lessons with Sessions with Cesar since the day we got him. The progress is amazing. I walk him twice daily although we have been below zero to five degrees for days, in Washington state, and I have had to shorten walks considerably. My problem is that ...

I have two beautiful Great Danes who are the most well behaved dogs. I have trained dogs all my life from the age of 8. So you all are probely saying why am I in here. I was given news that my almost 9 year old dane harley has cancer. I am devasted. I know that Danes don't live as ...

Hi, I have a question for some of you more knowledgeable people on this forum, as I am not an expert and do not know much about dogs. I am still learning, in the hopes of becoming a dog owner someday. I currently have two cats, one of whom is elderly, so my decision on puppy ownership won't come until after my eldest cat passes away.

Last night I was up really late, my husband had already gone to bed and
at around 2:30am I put Roxy in her crate as usual and went to bed.
About 5 mins later just as I was getting into bed I heard Roxy just

like ...

Because we are not working right now, we are home with Roxy pretty much all day long. If we have had to go somewhere for long periods of time (ie: the mall, relatives ...

Kindra,
I would be sure your husband does not reward attention seeking behaviors...if the dog jumps up, in an excited state of mine, do not acknowledge. Give affection only after the dog becomes calm and submissive. Increase the walk/run/bike with the dog.
Drain pent up energy....do you have a treadmill? Also try Cesar's Relax systemic ...

If your vet has seen video recordings of him alone...which by the way is great that you were able to do this....did he suggest any medications?
I assess SA in three levels.
Mild, Moderate, and severe. We are able to increase exercise, use Cesar's Relax formula.....kongs, items to help ease the anxiety with mild or moderate.
For more ...

Hi, I have an alaskan malamute that has canine separation anxiety. My dog does not show any real attachment to any members of my family and he doesn't constantly follow us around the house. Most of the time in the house, he is in a different room by himself and can stay there for hours. Anxiety only occurs when we leave the house, he doesn't try ...

That is wonderful, and such a relief to work through this level of SA. It is scary, and we encounter it regularly with the German wirehaireds we rescue.
We have had 2 dogs that were not able to work throuh this issue wihout some tools to help. We enlisted the help of a Behaviorist DVM in our area. Their trauma was severe neglect, and their ...
