  • Pup lunging at ankles and trouser bottoms.

My thirteen week old Cocker/ Lab has started to nip at my ankles every time I take him out for his walk , as soon as I take even one step forward he lunges at my trousers or ankles . He was taken off his mother at five weeks old , which I know won't have helped his nipping problems that I have , which with the help of Cesar's advice am getting ...

  • Re: nipping with the front teeth.

The behavior has nothing to do with being affectionate - it's an attempt to dominate the playing rituals. To stop it, you can do one of two things, but not both - and be consistent, whichever you choose. First, you can holler - loud - and immediately turn your back on the dog and stop playing. This is how puppies usually teach each other not ...

  • nipping with the front teeth.

i'm not exactly sure what the deal is, but my beagle-basset luke will nip me with his front teeth when playing recently.  he's left two marks on my arms...they hurt!  it's like he's trying to get the bugs out of his own coat only on my bare skin or through a t-shirt sleeve.  i don't know why he started doing this with ...

  • American Bulldog puppy (potty training, biting, jumping and chewing)

Need some help with a 13 week old female American bulldog.  We have a 13 year old male Bull Terrier that was hard to train, but this one takes the cake!!  We have used the normal house breaking techniques (feed and lock in the area for potty, take her outside every 2 hours - for exercise and get her use to going outside ...

  • Re: Barking, nipping, jumping, panting

Hi, Sharon! First, don't let her get on the furniture - not ANY of the furniture, at any time, for any reason.  The high places are to be reserved for the pack leaders - that's you and your husband and any children you might have and any guests you might have. Second, if she still barks when anyone goes by the house, tell her thank you, ...

  • Re: Play biting

Good Morning, Well, I have a new puppy in rescue...she is half wirehair/lab mix...cute as a bug with that fluffy beard and eyebows. she is 6 months old, and her playnipping is not funny. • Been using several suggestions to stop the nipping/biting, but puppy still bites.

Hi hi! I've had my puppy for 3 weeks now, she's a 3 months old Cocker Spaniel. I've been using several of the suggestions here in the site, and others to stop this behaviour. I've have yelped in a shrill voice ''Ow!'' or ''Ay'' and moved her away. I've have also shut her nuzzle gently with my hand and said ''no!'', and she will still get around ...

  • New Puppy to the Pack

Hi all!  We have just adopted an 8 week old collie/lab/spitz mix to our family.  I have a 2 year old and a 14 year old.  Hardy is actually very calm most of the time.  But like most labs he plays hard and then collapses. LOL.  Our vet has us give him a fingerful of honey to boost his sugar because they tend to deplete ...

  • Re: Need help with a list of things

Good morning... She is very young, and you will need to be patient. It seems with the foster puppies one day it just kicks in and they understand. Do not be frustrated with her.... we use the crate, take them out the minute their feet hit the floor..if they do not do their business, we return to the crate wait 15 minutes and then back out again. ...
